NTS Employee Profile: Andy Plumer

This month we are pleased to introduce Andy Plumer, founder of Lightning Technologies, Inc., now NTS Pittsfield. In 1977, a decade after starting his engineering career at the GE High Voltage Laboratory in Pittsfield, MA, Andy founded Lightning Technologies, Inc. (LTI). He served as president for 22 years before selling the company to four employees and making a transition to Chief Engineer.He has co-authored the textbook ‘Lightning Protection of Aircraft’, and numerous other technical papers. Andy is an active member of the SAE aircraft lightning standards committee and the IEC wind turbine lightning standards committee. He is an FAA DER and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. In the field of lightning, there is no one with more engineering, test, and consulting experience than Mr. Plumer.As an employee of NTS Pittsfield, Andy is focused on consulting with US and international clients alike to advise on research, development, design, test application, analysis, and the ultimate achievement of type certification aimed at the protection of high technology systems and installations against the hazards of lightning and other electrical phenomena.Should you have any questions for Andy please contact him at Andy.Plumer@nts.com
